How to Start a Journal

3 Tips to Starting a Journal. Hope you get something from them!

1. First pick out a theme for your Journal... this is the part when you get creative! Here are some ideas for Journal topics:
*A Prayer Journal- Everyday write out a prayer to God
*Story Journal- Fill this journal with your own life story's, and (or) made up story's
*Record Journal- Keep track of all your favorite places you've been, things you've done, rules you had when you where a kid or (and) now, etc.
*Letter Journal- Fill this Journal with letters to you Family members, friends, to you future self or children
*A List Journal- Keep lists of all your favorites, to-do's, not to', classes you've taken, friends, etc.
*Family Journal- Keep track of all your Family members, divorcees, marriages, cousins, etc.
*Note taking Journal- Hold Church notes in this one
*A Dairy- Write you most deep thoughts, story's, & secrets in this one
*Travel Journal- Take this one when you go on trips, vacations, mission trips, and with you everywhere you travel and write about what you do, how it was, what you saw, etc.
*Life Journal- Write out everything about your life in this one. Everyday write out what yo did, list everything about your stuff, things you want to remember in the future, etc.
*Everything Journal- Write out a little of everything in this one, random stuff even.
*Art Journal- Fill this one with drawings, pictures, just be crafty with this one!

2. Now mark your Journal as your own. You can put your name on it, decorate it, whatever you'd like to make it unique!

3. Put An introduction on the first page of your notebook. Write out what your journal is about, what it'll include, along with the day you started it and once you finished you journal put the day you finished it.
Hope you all enjoyed! Next time I'll do writing promps.

  1. Might also want to note to decide to just write text or if they'll also 'design' the pages as well. https://missmusingswritingessentials.wordpress.com/journaling/
