Fashion Don'ts

Read through through these fashion don'ts if you're unsure of an outfit, or just need some advice!

Fashion Don'ts:

Don't match patterns.
Unlike what's cool in first grade were you wear everything plaid, everything polkadot, everting strips,  it's not cool when you're a teenager. What I'm saying is if you have a red plaid shirt, don't wear red plaid shoes with it. Instead wear red shoes. If you have a pink polkadot shirt, don't match a pink polka dot purse with it. Match a pink, white, or even gold purse with it! Don't wear the same pattern skirt as you headband. Or the same pattern hat as jacket.

Don't wear jean on jean.
This is personally a look that I don't like! It does not look very flattering or stylish when a jean jacket is worn with jeans. The only way to wear this is by wearing a jean jacket with colored jeans. A jean jacket is also fine with a dress, skirt, colored shorts or colored jeans. But jean jackets with jeans are a definite don't. If a light, practically non jean blouse is worn with dark jeans, it's ok. Just don't layer jeans!

Don't mix the naturals.
Wearing a nude colored top with a light brown jacket and dark brown jeans and a gray/nude bag is totally non fashionable. Once you have one natural color mixed in your outfit, that's all you need! Mixing natural colors such as gray, white, nude, gold, light brown, dark brown, bronze, and skin color looks totally boring, dull, and NON FASHIONABLE. Defiantly a look you do not want to visit.

Don't  wear leggings with a shirt.
Leggings are made to go underneath a dress or a skirt. Not to be worn as pants! Leggings should not be worn with anything that does not cover you bottom. Running leggings can be worn with anything sporty as long as they are thick enough to a point were you can't she underpants lines...

Don't mix black & navy.
These three colors are each very similar witch is why we do not wear them all together. Example: You have a cute navy jacket. You want to wear it with your outfit but you have no matching shoes, so you just slip on some black sandals hoping they will pass as looking navy. Everyone can tell that you are wearing black sandals with a navy outfit. Now this is just personal reference, but I personally do not like black and navy together.

Don't wear food t-shirts.
The cute t-shirts you get from Justice that have food on them and say funny things are cute for first and second graders. But now that you wanna start looking fashionable, it's time to put those t-shirts away. Now I personally never liked those types of t-shirts, but if they're your style wear them all day long! This is just a personal trend I never had a thing for.

Don't mix silver and gold.
Silver and gold are each such beautiful colors, they do not deserve to be mixed together! It's different if you get a ring that has both silver stones on it and gold stones on it, but you can't wear a gold necklace with it and a silver bracelet on it. Instead wear a gold necklace and a gold bracelet with it. Heres another example: You have gold sequins on your top, therefor wear gold jewelry. You have a silver bow in your hair, therefor wear silver jewelry. You have a gold handbag, therefor wear gold gold jewelry and a gold hair bow. You have silver beading on your jeans, therefor wear a silver purse and silver jewelry.

Don't wear something unflattering to your body.
To wear something that flatters your body is not wearing something un-modest. For example: If you're a really thin girl, don't wear baggy pants. Wear something more tight on your legs so that it doesn't make you look an unhealthy skinny or like you can't find anything that fits. If you are more of a chubby one, don't wear a tight shirt. This shows every one of your curves and exactly the shape and size of your body. Wear something a little loser that is a bit tight at the waist... but not too tight!

Don't wear tennis shoes with jeans.
I personally do not like this look. If you are enjoy wearing tennis shoes with jeans then go for it! But if you are looking for something a little more sophisticated and grown up I'd step away from this look.

Don't wear socks that show.
When you're going running and wear your tennis shoes, make sure you can't see you socks above them! If you can only see a little brim of white or even colored socks above your tennis shoes is fine. But when you can see almost ankle high socks, it gives a little bit of a nerdy look. This is all just personal reference though people! If this look is appealing to you go for it!

Becoming United

I have taken these notes on "Unity" throughout this past weekend. These notes come from three worship sessions by Pastor Jeff Borton. Enjoy.

Session #1.

Our relationship with God is the most important relationship we have. John 15:5-91. Our Salvation is rooted in Jesus alone
-You are the branch that grows out of the tree of life; Jesus.
-Having Salvation is trusting in no one but Jesus.
-It's not about what we do, it's about what's been done for us.
-Revelation 2:2-5
2. Remaining means following Jesus passionately
-God sees you serving, He is the ultimate supporter.
-You can remain following Jesus by serving.
-Remember the love for Jesus you had when you were saved. Go back to the beginning
-What does your heart beat for?
3. Spiritual Fruit is evidence we are growing in our relationship with Jesus
-What kind of fruit are you producing?
-Galatians 5:22-25
-Every relationship we have comes from the relationship God.
-Apply yourself to Jesus
-Everything we do has evaluation
-Love is sacrifice

Action Step:  You must examine the spiritual fruit of your life and make changes.

Session #2.

Our relationship with God determines the unity we have with others. Philippians 2-Being together is not what makes us unified. Being together in heats is what does.
-Be united through Christ with the same love and passion.
-When we pursue Jesus, we want what He wants; unity Philippians 2:2
-Selfishness destroys unity Philippians 2:3
-Jesus has a passion for the Church, and for lost people. Do you have that passion?
-Care for others more then yourself Philippians 2:4
-Unity is impossible without humility!
-What lives would be saved if we were unified?
-Pray, serve, unify.
-Things can be saved. Things can be changed.

Action Steps:
Recognize that the Church is you spiritual family.
Value others more than yourself.
When you pursue Jesus, you pursue unity.

Session #3.

When we are united, the world changes. John  13:34, 35 Acts 2:42-47-Jesus set the example for love and for serving
-Our unity shows our worship.
-The early churched shaped the world by how they loved each other.
-As God has loved you, you must love others.
-Agoppa- to love sincerely; the love that Jesus shows us.
-God has shown love to the world.
-If Jesus serves, why wouldn't you be able to?
-If you want to be seen as great, you need to serve. If you want to be first, you must become last.
-Unified- serving each other
-When strangers see you, do they see Jesus?
-The world is going to change, so why get caught up in right now?
-Are you ready to become united and change the world?

Action Step: Be united; change the world!

Why do Bad Things Happen to Good People?

It's "Worship Wednesday!" Many people wonder why bad things happen to good people. I decided to post about about why bad things happen to good people because this question could keep a Christian from loving and believing in God. I took these notes on a sermon by my youth pastor...

Title: Why do bad things happen to good people?
Genesis 1:1-31

1. Creation: God created everything that we can and can not see. Genesis 1:27
- At creation, man (human) and God had a perfect relationship.
- Everything's about relationship
- God doesn't force us into a relationship with him... he give's us the choice.
- God wants you to love him by choice, not by will.

2. Fall: creation will, and has fallen by sin.
- The thought that comes to your mind when you hear God's name is the most important description of you.
- How do you view God? What do you think about when you hear God's name?
- Jesus chose to love you and such a way that he died for you.
- The price of sin is death. This makes our relationship with God right.
- Why doesn't God just stop all evil and sin? He already has. Now it's up to you to chose the path of peace, or the path of destruction.
- "It is finished", those are the words Jesus spoke on the cross as he was dying. He's saying that sin is over, and that he's made a way.
- Sin will end throughout all the earth when Jesus returns.
- God uses sin to lead others to himself.
- God wants a relationship with everyone. For he created everyone.
- Why did god let Adam and Eve sin? Because then human wouldn't have what God intended them to have... free will to love him, or to not.

How to respond to bad things when they happen to you, or to other good people:
1. Realize that it's not God doing it, it's yourself and the devil.
2. Realize that it's OK to be upset about it!
3. Look for the lesson God want's you to see through it, and the good that will come out of it.
